• Notes

  Thomas was a young boy when the apparitions of Knock took place (1870-1880). He was born in Knock and he used to drive a small pony cart to the railroad station at Ballyhaunis to pick up pilgrims that visited the site of the apparitions. He met his future wife, Annie Fergus, at this time. We calculate that he was born about 1868, because he always claimed to be older than his wife and she was 90 probably years old at her death in 1957.
